Dalda F. Womack

Dalda F. Womack, 81 of Star City died Friday at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born Oct. 11, 1931 in Sweet Home to the late Floyd and Jewel Grable Womack. Mr. Womack was a graduate of Conway High School and the University of Central Arkansas where he received his education while on a football scholarship. After graduating from UCA, he took his first job as the head football and basketball coach at Searcy. He then moved to Gillett where he was the head football coach. While at Gillett, Mr. Womack spent his summer's at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he received his Master's, he then was promoted to principal and later to the superintendent at Gillett. In 1974, Mr. Womack moved to Star City where he took the Superintendent's Job where he remained until his retirement in 1995. He was associated with the Arkansas American Legion Boy's State Program for 54 years where he served in many positions including having a Boy's State County named for him "Womack County" he was currently Chairman of the Boy's State commission which is the position he held until his death. Thru the years, Mr. Womack worked with the American Legion Boy's Baseball Program, was Past President of the American Association of School Administrators, Past President of the County Superintendent's Organization, Life Member of the P.T.A., Member of Phi Delta Kappa, Past Board Member of the Arkansas Activities Association, Past Member of the Board of Trustee's at the University of Central Arkansas for 15 Years, and was Once appointed to the Legislative Committee of the Arkansas School Administrator's Association, which he served for many years, and a Member of the First United Methodist Church in Star City. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Womack and Gaylon Womack. Survivors include his wife, Mary Maness Womack of Star City, a son, Randy Womack and wife Gayle of Gillett, a daughter, Laura Holthoff and husband Bo of Dumas, eight grandchildren, Jordan Womack Gardner and husband Ryan, Chase Gasaway and wife Julianne, Ryan Womack and wife Kenna, Sydney Jade Gasaway, Sage Gasaway, Claudia Holthoff Sullivan, Caroline Holthoff, Victoria Holthoff, and six great-grandchildren, Lainie and Reese Gardner, Eli Womack, Isaiah Hayes, Blagg and Bassett Sullivan. Services will be at the D.F. Womack Gymnasium at Star City High School, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Bro. Bryan Diffee officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the Gym. Burial will follow in Gillett Cemetery at Gillett, Ark.
