C.S. (Sam) Williamson Jr.

C. S. (Sam) Williamson Jr., 95, of Pine Bluff, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born June 14, 1918 in Pine Bluff, son of Curnel Samuel (C.S.) and Esther Triplett Williamson. Mr. Williamson was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Williamson served in World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He served with the 20th Air Force in the Pacific Theater, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. After his service in the military, he returned to Pine Bluff in 1946 where he joined the family business, The C.H. Triplett Company. Until his recent illness, he came into the Company every day. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Four Forks Hunting Club. Mr. Williamson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Hunter Williamson, whom he married June 21, 1947 in Pine Bluff; his parents; brother, C. Frank Williamson; and grandson, Hunter Gaines Williamson. Survivors include two daughters, F. Susan Williamson and Catherine W. Freeman (Dewey), both of Little Rock; son, S. Gaines Williamson (Bonnie) of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Jennifer Willeford (Stephen) of Sachse, Texas, Brice Freeman (Leslie) and Taylor Williamson, all of Fayetteville; and a great-grandchild, Catherine Blake Willeford. The family is very grateful to his three caregivers, Brenda Gaddy, Jacquelin Nelson, Tiffany Jones and Andrea Eason, as well as the Hospice Angels. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert C. Cannada Jr., Chancellor Emeritus of the Reformed Theological Seminary, officiating. A reception will follow in McColgan Hall. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4-6 p.m. at the home of Sam Williamson, 1603 West 46th Avenue in Pine Bluff. Arrangements are handled by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Jeter, Rick Henry, Wimpy Norton, Mac Norton, Eddie McColgan, Bill McColgan, Bruce Roberts and Mac Bellingrath. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Smart and Jack Currie.
