James "J.J." Vent

James "J.J." Vent, 81, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Carlisle, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 25, 2013. J.J. was born June 27, 1931 in Lonoke County, the second of seven children to the late Vester and Hazel Mayher Vent. He was a machinist and had worked for Southern Pacific Railroads. J.J. was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and a Mason at the Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge # 160. He loved hunting, fishing and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Carl, and Robert Vent. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Freda Alexander Vent; son, James P. ‘Jamie' Vent of Pine Bluff; grandsons, Christopher (Sharon) Vent and Alex Vent; granddaughter, Megan (Nathan) O'Brien; great-grandson, Jackson Lain Vent; brothers, Paul (Jean) Vent of Carlisle and Lee (Carolyn) Vent of Clarendon; sister, Cindy (R.B.) Carter of Humnoke; many nieces and nephews along with a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church near Carlisle with Brother Tony Williams officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Bethany Missionary Baptist Church or to Hospice Angels. The family will be at their home.
