Marilyn Dale Daniels Parker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 83, of Carlisle, died peacefully in her sleep in her home, Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Marilyn was born September 8, 1929 in Carlisle to John Clifton "Doc" and Ethel McCallie Daniels and she was a 1948 graduate of Carlisle High School. Marilyn married Bernie Clifford Parker in 1950. She raised their three sons, Steve, Cliff, and Mike on their rice and soybean farm south of Carlisle in the Hamilton Community where she remained for the rest of her life, being only three miles from her birthplace and childhood home. Dedicated to hard work, Marilyn was especially known for taking care of her several acres of lawn and garden up until she was 80 years old. She enjoyed her road trips, especially in exploring her McCallie and Daniels roots. She loved spending time with her aunts and uncles. Marilyn, whose faith in Christ never faltered, was a devoted member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. Singing God's praises through song brought Marilyn great joy. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, sons, Steve and Cliff, great grandson Bernie and her brother, Jack. She is survived by her son, Michael; brothers Dan and Mack; sisters, Bonita Huey and Kay Hill; grandchildren, Tiffany, Bernie, Stephen, Drew, John, Michael and Will. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Hamilton Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Baptist Church.
