William Carroll Adams

Dr. William Carroll Adams, 82, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in Greenville, Texas. Carroll was born July 15, 1930 in Star City, Ark. to Allie L. and Ila Miles Adams. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Lake Village Public Schools and graduated in 1948. Carroll received his B.A. in 1951 at Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) and received his M.A. in 1953. He received his Ph.D. in 1963 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. In 1960, Dr. Adams joined the faculty at East Texas State College (now Texas A&M University-Commerce). He taught for 35 years and was named Professor Emeritus in 1998. Dr. Adams is survived by his sister, Margaret Adams Smith of Little Rock, Ark. and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Adams is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arvel T. Adams and sister-in-law Carolyn Craddock Adams; his sisters, Reba Adams Mitchell, Mildred Adams Moseley and Allie Vee Adams Salem. A memorial service will be held on March 9, 2013, 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. Third Ave., Pine Bluff, Ark. 71601 with graveside to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Star City, Ark. 71667.
