Allie Mae Vaughn, 85, of Little Rock was hoisted onto the wings of angels for the journey home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was the widow of the late Rev. Ezekiel Vaughn, Sr. "MaDear", as she was affectionately known had been an active servant of the Lord her whole life, having sung in choirs; beginning in 1949 being the First Lady of the congregations of her husband's church assignments, including Bethlehem Baptist Church (Morrilton), St. Matthew BC #2, and New Dora BC (McAlmont); being a member of the Missionary Society at Fellowship BC (Bossier, La.) and Mt. Olive MBC (Little Rock), Ministers Wives and Widows Fellowship of the Union District Congress, the Golden Rule and Middle Western District Fellowship, and the City Wide Mission. Before her union with Mt. Olive MBC, she had been a member of Second Baptist Church on 29th & High. An awesome speaker, MaDear was also a "noisy praiser" and could often be heard praising with "WELL", "all right", "yes", and "wonderful". She had been employed with Arkansas Easter Seals as a cook. Her mantra was, "Do what pleases God." She was in Plano, Texas, with her son "Zeke" and daughter-in-Christ Vickie at the time of her home-going. There, she had united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Vaughn leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, the Rev. Ernest Vaughn (Elizabeth), Little Rock, Bishop Alton Louis Vaughn (Toni) Springfield, Mo., her baby the Rev. Ezekiel Vaughn Jr. (Vickie) of Plano; and 3 daughters Missionary Christine Vaughn-Thomas, Joyce Banks (the Rev. Harvie), and Clarissa Ann Coleman all of Little Rock; step-daughter, B. Jean Oswald, Madesto, Calif.; and one brother, Roosevelt Scott (Dewey) Vacaville, Calif. Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughn will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Shiloh MBC, 920 E. 14th Street, Plano, Texas. Services there entrusted to Heavenly Gate Funeral Service, 702 Gatewood Road, Garland, Texas 75043, (972) 240-2121. Interment will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in Haven of Rest Cemetery in Little Rock. Local services by Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, 2405 South Gaines Street. Open visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at GateWay, 376-7188. A memorial service also will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Greater Rose of Sharon BC, 2823 MLK Dr. in Little Rock.
