OD TREADWAY, 91, died March 7, 2013, at Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock. Born March 16, 1921, son of the late Alfred and Catherine Geyer Treadway, OD graduated from Little Rock (Central) High School, where he was twice school boxing champion in the 95-to-100-pound class. During World War II he served as an aviation ordnanceman in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He later served in the Naval Reserve and in the Arkansas Air National Guard, reaching the rank of staff sergeant. After the war, OD attended photography school in Dallas. He was hired as a photographer for the State of Arkansas, in which capacity he often accompanied Gov. Orval Faubus on official trips. He later worked as an accountant in the state auditor's and treasurer's offices. In 1951 he married the former Irene Spanke, whom he met at a dance when his date failed to show up. Upon retirement, OD and Irene turned their love of antiques into a business, and during the 1970s they ran The Hope Chest, an antiques and gift store, on Polk Street in Little Rock. OD also organized the first annual "Junktique" sale at Catholic High School for Boys, now in its fortieth year. OD converted to Catholicism in the 1960s and at the time of his death was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church in Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his wife Irene, who died on Jan. 10. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael and Shelley Treadway of Baltimore; son and daughter-in-law Tyler Treadway and Sheri Walker of Stuart, Fla.; sisters-in-law Edith Treadway of Little Rock, Louise Kihm of Lake Wales, Fla., and Mary Donnell of Little Rock; grandson Peter Treadway of Baltimore; niece Susan Wise of Houston, Texas, and her children and grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
