ANTHONY ZENON DUBE, 86, of Sherwood passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. He was born July 9, 1926 in Quebec, Canada to Joseph Louis and Ernestine Levesque Dube and moved to New Hampshire when he was 6. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Southern California in 1958. In 1964 he acquired his Master of Arts degree in English from UT, El Paso. He completed his Ph.D in English in 1967 at Texas Tech University, then became chairman of the English, Languages and Journalism Department at Texas Wesleyan College at Fort Worth, Texas. Anthony moved to Jonesboro, Ark. where he was Chairman of English, Philosophy and Languages at ASU from 1970 to 1974. From 1974 to 1982 he was executive director of the Arkansas Endowment for the Humanities. Anthony was a member of the Arkansas staff of the Public Service Commission and chairman of NCCJ of Arkansas. After joining the Navy he spent three years in OTS at Notre Dame. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Holland Dube; brother, Charles Dube and his parents. He is survived by his adopted daughter, Barbara (Ronny) Brown, of Searcy; step-children, Janelle and Jon Burks, of North Little Rock, Joan and Michael Pehosh, of Bella Vista, Ark. and Fred and Kristina Holland, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Rev. Greg and Kim Burks, Todd and Dr. Karen Burks, Chris and Renee Burks, Dr. Lisa and Scott Martin and Brett and Stacey Pehosh; great-grandchildren, Parker and Scott Burks, Sandy and Graham Burks, Addison and MacKenzie Burks and Isabelle, Jacob and Isaiah Martin. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Monday at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday at the church.
