Patsy Ruth Castleberry

Patsy Ruth Castleberry, 72, of De Valls Bluff, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Vivian Cook Browning. Patsy was born and raised in Biscoe spending countless hours on Jackson Bayou with two younger brothers, Bronson and Earl Dean, who taught her to climb trees and sparked the start of her lifelong love of fishing. In May of 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Bedford Brooks Castleberry. They were a young Air Force couple who had their first child, Bronson Brooks in Shreveport, Louisiana, their daughter, Audrey Lee in Victoria, Texas, and then settled back home where their youngest son, Stuart Alan, was born. Patsy was a caregiver well known for fresh coffee always in the making and having an extra seat at the table. She was an avid gardener and famously good cook. She was often found in the kitchen preparing food for family, friends, and neighbors or on the road making home deliveries of freshly cooked meals or baked goods. She was a loving wife; proud mother; adoring grandmother; delighted great-grandmother, and the best family dog sitter around. She lived a full life complete with laughter and sorrow. Patsy is survived by her husband and sweetheart, Brooks; children, Bronson (Anita), Audrey (Mark Visconti), and Stuart Castleberry; grandchildren, Brooke (Justin) Gantt, Dillion (Wendy) Castleberry, Dustin Castleberry, John Riley (Andrea) Haygood; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Savanna, Harmony, Audrey, and Juliette. Visitation will be Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen with burial to follow in the De Valls Bluff Cemetery.
