Edward S. McDonald

Edward S. McDonald passed away Friday, March 8th in Niceville, Florida after a long illness. Ed was born in Steubenville Ohio in 1937. He was the son of James E. and Wilma McDonald of Pine Bluff. After graduating from Arkansas Tech, Ed was commissioned into the US Army, serving in the military for 20 years attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military career took he and his family around the globe including two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, Ed returned to his hometown of Pine Bluff and worked for General Dynamics in Camden. Ed later moved to Hot Springs where he spent many years living on the lake and following his beloved Razorbacks as a member of the Road Hogs. Ed was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hot Springs and was devoted to their 2nd mile program. Edward is survived by his daughter Kym Overbey and her husband Scot of Edmond Oklahoma, his daughter Renee Hill and her husband Greg of Niceville, Fla, by his son Todd McDonald and his wife Lisa of Little Rock as well as 11 grandchildren that affectionately knew him as Pop. Ed was known for his love of country, Razorbacks and story telling, but will be remembered most for his devotion to family. His loudest cheers were always reserved for his most treasured team of 11; Nathan, Anna Ruth, John Scot, George, Grace, David, John, Ella Ruth, Todd Alan, Kate and Anna. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. March 30th at First Baptist Church of Hot Springs.
