Dr. Jim J. Moore, II age 83 of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord April 30, 2013. He was born October 23, 1929 in Fort Smith, Ark. to Jim and Inez Moore. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie, two sons; Jim Moore III and his wife Pat, of Panama City Beach, Fla., Scott Moore, of Blytheville, Ark., two daughters; Maggie Jones and her husband Tommy of Little Rock, Ark., Jessica Moore of Little Rock, Ark., one granddaughter, Kathryn Claire Jones, nephew John Lindquist and great–nephew, Joseph Lindquist. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Jane Moore, his son Richard Patrick Moore and a sister Emma James Lindquist. Dr. Moore attended the University of Arkansas Fayetteville, and medical school at UAMS graduating in 1955. He completed his neurosurgical training at Baylor University Houston. Dr. Moore was in the Navy and practiced at Portsmouth Naval Hospital Virginia. He practiced neurosurgery at St. Vincent Medical Infirmary Medical Center for over 40 years and was past chief of staff. He was a past Associate Professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at UAMS. A Catholic and a retired, talented neurosurgeon, Jim was practical yet fanciful, hard-headed and tough-talking yet warm- hearted and a very sweet, brilliant man who dearly loved his family. He was well armed with and arsenal of witty anecdotes and jokes, perhaps in English, German, Latin or Arabic (off-color or otherwise) and was more than happy to share them often. "Have you heard the one about...? And whether you had or hadn't was not the point; you were just about to hear. Some of his passions included, but were hardly limited to, firearms, coins, bonsai trees, Mediterranean food, Star Trek, knife-sharpening, and his (or anyone else's) dogs. "Just scratch them right there, below the neck and slightly above the chest. That's the one place a dog can't quite reach. They'll love you for it." Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 with Rosary at 7 p.m., in the Chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, 1003 N. Tyler Street, Little Rock, Ark.
