Dylan Matthew Johnston, 21, of North Little Rock left us Thursday, May 2, 2013. He is survived by his mother, Alesia Duffy (Jay Paul); father, Terry Johnston (Sonja Jones); sister, Lauren Johnston; son, Matthew Hiram Johnston; his loving fiancé, Natalie Lillibridge; grandmother, Inge Johnston; grandfather, Tommy Sewell, Sr. (Joanna); niece, Arabella Johnston; nephew, Aaden Johnston; great-grandmother, Ima Lillian Sewell; uncles, Tommy Sewell, Jr. (Tina), Bobby Johnston (Donna) and Bill Monk; aunts, Linda Thomas (Bill) and Jannett Norton (Calvin); and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hal and Jeannie Smith and Bobby D. Johnston, Sr.; great-grandparents, Melvin E. and Ruby J. Brown; J. B. and Gladys Smith, and Harold M. Sewell; and his aunt, Patricia "Tish" J. Monk. Dylan was best known for his huge heart. He was kind and giving and would give everything he owned for someone in need, even the shirt off his back. He always made people laugh and smile with his jokes and character impressions. He loved going out to the country and shooting guns and fishing with his dad. He loved his family and was a fierce defender of them all, especially his older sister. Even though he was the younger, he played the big brother role. He stepped up and helped care for his Mimi and Mammaw in their final days. He was the fun Uncle for Arabella and Aaden and for a time was their father figure. He was an avid video gamer and always had the latest systems and games. He wanted to work towards a career in video game programming. Dylan brought out the best in all of us and he left us way too soon. The light of his life was his newborn son, Matthew. Dylan was a "hands on" father, the primary caregiver, the exception to the rule. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund for Dylan's son, Matthew, has been set-up at Bank of America. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grissard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
