TURA LOUISE (GUESS) LEONARD, age 99, of Little Rock, Ark. and most recently of Benton, Ark. went to be with the Lord May 3, 2013 after a short illness. Louise was born on Oct. 4, 1913 at Des Arc, Ark., to Tura Lucene Owen Guess and George Washington Guess. She was a descendant of prominent families in both Prairie County and Memphis, Tenn., a direct descendant of the Tillman Bettis Family who settled in Memphis. Tillman Bettis is buried on land at Poplar and Union Streets and a marker is there now. A woman with many honorable attributes, she was primarily known for her outgoing nature and compassion. She served faithfully as an active member as well as former board member of Winfield United Methodist Church. In Louise's early adult life, she volunteered many hours during World War II as a Red Cross nurse's aide at both St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center and Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She continued to be actively involved in Little Rock organizations such as the Fine Arts Club, Departmental Club, Briarwood Garden Club and Tuesday Sewing club. She retired from the Arkansas Department of Finance and loved to travel, having visited 26 countries and all 50 states. Louise was preceded in death by her husbands, D. Wyle Hall and John D. Leonard; sister, Elizabeth Guess Clark, Mary Guess Ford; brother, Jimmie Guess and son, Oley Eldon Rooker. She is survived by her sister, Edythe Guess Bell of Benton; her three grandchildren, Karen Rooker Sebourn, David Rooker of Little Rock and Susan Rooker Tonymon of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services honoring Louise's life will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway Little Rock, Ark. (501)224-8300 with Pastor Bob Guess officiating. Family will receive friends from 10-11 prior to the service. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., May 7, 2013 at Lakeside Cemetery in Des Arc, Ark.
