Melissa A. Mitchell

Melissa A. Mitchell, age 49, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013. She was born on July 2, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernadine McCabe; and her brother, David Gottsponer. Melissa graduated Henderson State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and was a county supervisor with the Arkansas Department of Human Services. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton. She is survived by her son, Chris Mitchell of Jessieville; her step-father, William McCabe of Perryville; one granddaughter, Deanna Mitchell of Fountain Lake; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Kimberly Gottsponer of Enola and Paul and Diane Gottsponer of Bigelow; one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bob Vandivere of Conway; three step-sisters, Roxianna Anderson and her husband, James, of Adona, Tanya McCabe of Perryville and Marion Dutton of Waltrek; her special friends, Tina Pomaybo and April Ethridge, both of Hot Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
