Guy Carleton Blackwell, age 76, of Reno, Nev., passed away May 2, 2013. He was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to the late Guy Carleton Blackwell and Martha Kimber Blackwell Barton. He is survived by his two children, Carolyn Anderson and Scott Blackwell, as well as his three stepchildren, Jacque Hendricks, Mike Crook, and Rohnda Venturino. He also was blessed with two grandsons, Jacob McCarthy and Ian Anderson, as well as a nephew, many nieces and cousins. Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Blackwell, his sister, Martha Guy Hestand, and by his brother, Dr. O.G. Blackwell. Guy graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1955. He earned his Economics major from Arkansas State College in Jonesboro and served in the U.S. Army. Guy's lifelong passion was studying and giving stock investment advice. He worked for decades as a Regional Vice President for A.G. Edwards & Sons brokerage firm based out of the St. Louis and later the San Francisco office. Guy said that if he could pick a future college major it would be studying the life of Warren Buffett. Besides his love of business, Guy loved his Wheaten Terriers, barbequing and making his famous fried oysters for family and friends, playing golf, boating, and traveling with Ruth. If he could pick our next family reunion, we would all meet again for a trout fish and fry at Gaston's White River Resort. The family would like to thank Guy's amazingly devoted caregivers at Emeritus at Reno and Vista Hospice Care. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Guy's life at South Reno Baptist Church in Nevada on Friday, June 21, 2013, at noon with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Emeritus at Reno or to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation.
