JACK L. AVERY, beloved Husband, Dad, Ole Man, Pepaw, (a special man of many names), passed away on May 10, 2013 after a short illness. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1956; was one of "Wilson's Tigers." In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in July. He is survived by his wife, Neta June Wade Avery; sons, Brett Avery (Debby) of Sherwood and Bart Avery (Connie) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Jeremy Avery (Kayla) of Maumelle, Brittany Fulmer (Billy) of Greenbrier and Drake Avery of Little Rock; and one great-granddaughter, Hayley Avery of Maumelle. Also surviving are his mother, Mavis White of Bryant; two sisters, Billie Smith (Greg) of Little Rock and Ava Robertson (David) of Bryant; one brother, Gary Burris of Florida; and his mother-in-law, Pearl Wade of Little Rock. Jack retired from ABF in 1995 at the age of 57 following 36 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Retirees. He was of the Baptist faith. Jack was a volunteer blood donor to the American Red Cross, donating over five gallons of blood, and in the last year, received most of it back. He was a member of many organizations, including FOE #60 and was past Master of Adoniram Lodge #288. He received the Pillars of Solomon award for outstanding service. He was a member of the Rainbow Board and proud recipient of the DeMolay Court of Honor. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, KCCH and a member of the Bendemeer Grotto. Until 2012, he was a member of Scimitar Shrine Temple, and over several years, belonged to many units, including the Oriental Band, Square Dancers, Roadster Patrol and the Ritualistic Divan. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 12. A special thank you is given to all at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock for their love and care. Visitation will be Monday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Tuesday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Mark Evans. A Masonic graveside service will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander.
