Ona Burris Magar, 97, of Old Hickory, passed away, Thursday, May 9, 2013. She was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Griffin Flat (Pope County), a daughter of Charley and Malissie (Darter) Burris. She was a homemaker and faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bud Magar; her son William Charles Magar; one brother Carl Burris, and one sister Gertrude Banks Meyers. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Harold) Powell of St. Louis, Mo., and Ruth Ann (George) Looney of Hattieville; one granddaughter, Melissa Looney of Beebe; three grandsons, Todd (Debra) Magar and children, Joey Michael and Evan of Atlanta, Ga.; Rance (Cindy) Looney and children Maddie, Macey Jo and Gage of Old Hickory; Jason (Lyndsay) Magar and children Tess, Max, and Cori of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Earl Burris of Appleton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Jerusalem Church of Christ with Bro. Scott Roderick and Bro. Lynn Donnell officiating. Burial will be at Old Hickory Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jerusalem Church of Christ.
