Louise Parham Chadwick passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. She was born September 5, 1925, in Temperance Hill Arkansas, the youngest child of Richard Hunter Parham and Annie Stell Parham. She was the beloved baby sister of nine siblings in Temperance Hill, Arkansas, and graduated high school in 1943. While studying at Henderson University she met Edward Neil (Ned) Chadwick, whom she married after graduation in 1947. Ned and Louise made their home in Lake Village, Arkansas, where two of their three daughters were born, with the third arriving after moving to La Marque, Texas. Mrs. Chadwick taught kindergarten and first grade in La Marque for over thirty years, during which time her radiant warmth, kindness and patience touched the lives of countless students, parents, coworkers and friends. Her exemplary devotion to her students earned her their lifelong admiration and affection. Many kept in contact through the years and to this day can recall the timeless lessons of character she taught through her gentle example. Mrs. Chadwick was also very active with her church and her professional educators organization Alpha Delta Kappa. She was dearly loved by her family, and her loving spirit and infectious laughter will be fondly remembered by all she touched. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Ned, as well as her parents, her siblings Lois Taylor, Reece Parham, Helen Hammond, Ray Parham, Lee Parham, Annie Jones, Gerald Parham, Graydon Parham and Emmette Parham. Left to cherish her memory are her children Karen Thormalen and husband Claude, Melinda Miller and husband Craig, Christie Norman and husband Rusty, grandchildren Missy Collins and husband Chris, Hunter McBride and wife Amy, David Norman and wife Jessica, and Lauren Norman, as well as great grandsons Reece and Charlie Collins and Mason and Madden Norman. In addition, she is survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 14 at James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Avenue in La Marque, 5 p.m.-7 p.m. funeral services will be Wednesday, May 15, 2 p.m. La Marque First United Methodist Church, 1825 Howell Avenue, La Marque, with Pastor Stacy Anzick officiating. Pallbearers are Rusty Norman, Craig Miller, Claude Thormalen, Chris Collins, Hunter McBride, David Norman and Wilson Jones. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the Temperance Hill Cemetery, Fordyce, Arkansas, with her nephew Rev. Mike Clayton, officiating. The family suggests that memorials be made in Louise's memory to the First United Methodist Church of La Marque, 1825 Howell Avenue, La Marque, Texas 77568, the Temperance Hill Cemetery Association, 2018 Parkwood Lane, Fordyce Arkansas 71742 or to a charity of your choice.
