Lewis A. "Luke" Moorman Jr. of Little Roclk, died Sunday, May 19, 2013. He was born July 19, 1920, the son of the late Lewis A. Moorman and Beulah Sanders Moorman. Luke is survived by his wife Carolyn Westerfield Moorman, his daughter, Colleen Parr Moorman, his son, Michael Sean Moorman, and his nephew, Don Alan Zimmerman all of Little Rock and a host of other family and friends. He was predeceased in death by his sisters, Kathleen Donovan and Louise Zimmerman. Luke was graduated from Little Rock High School and later attended Little Rock Junior College, Georgia Tech University, and graduated from the University of Chicago and Arkansas Law School. He enlisted in the last unit of Mounted Horse Calvary in the US Army and upon disbandment served as a Combat Infantry Rifleman during World War II running a Rifle Company. He was in the Invasion of Africa and the Normandy D-Day invasion landing at Omaha Beach as well as fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He had more days on the line than anyone in the 90th and 1st Infantry Rifle Divisions. He received numerous battle related decorations including Purple Hearts, Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, and Croix de Guerre. He returned to Little Rock after the war and went into the printing business. He was active in the Pulaski County Democratic Committee serving as chairman for several years, and later ran for Pulaski County Judge. He was a founding member of the Little Rock Pistol Club and Arkansas Muzzle Loading Association. He actively sponsored and mentored thousands of men over a lifetime.
