JAMES DWIGHT HOSKINS, 79, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Little Rock. James (Jim) was born July 1, 1933, in Detroit, Mich., to William Dwight Hoskins and Eunice Irene Plourde Hoskins, and had resided in Little Rock since 1971. Jim was a Vietnam War veteran and Naval Aviator in the United States Navy for 15 years. Lt. Commander Jim Hoskins retired from the United States Navy in 1969. Following his military service, Jim worked as an information technology manager at the University of Arkansas Medical Center, in Little Rock, for 39 years. He retired in 2012. Jim was a devoted husband who survived his beloved wife of 36 years, Shirley Jean. During their cherished time together, one of their greatest pleasures was vacationing on the Gulf Coast. Jim was of the Catholic faith, an avid sports fan with a particular fondness for bowling, golf and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a nature lover with a great passion for gardening and bird watching, and liked nothing better than to sit quietly on his deck in the back yard reading a good book while enjoying a nice glass of wine. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors include his sons, Kevin and Mark; daughters, Cheryl, Cindy, and Sandy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jesse, Briana, Kaitlyn, and Ryan; stepson, Scott (Keri) Arneson, and their children, Mallory, and McKinley, and stepdaughter, Gwendolyn (Shawn) Pierce and their daughter, Amy. Memorial donations may be made in Jim's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675 Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211. Funeral service will be at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, officiated by Father Phillip Reaves.
