Jesmond "Jess" A. DiMaio Jr., age 70 went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Jess was born on March 20, 1943 to Jesmond and Mary DiMaio in Youngstown, Ohio. Jess and his father started A&D Screw Machine Products of Malvern in 1960. Jess graduated from Benton High School in 1961. His family moved to Malvern in 1962. In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gail Ensey. They were married just over 49 years. Jess was a lifelong parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church in Malvern where he was President of the Parish Council and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed radio controlled planes, going to car shows, and classic cars were his love. Jess also liked woodworking, building bird houses, chairs, window boxes, and bird feeders. Jess and Gail loved to travel and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in Italy. Jess loved being with his grandchildren, family and friends. Jess is preceded in death by his parents Jesmond & Mary DiMaio; brother Carl Arthur DiMaio; and sister Francine DiMaio Carman. Jess is survived by his wife, Gail DiMaio of Malvern, Ark.; daughters: Marlo and husband Fred McMillan of Bryant, Ark., and Christine DiMaio of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren Jessica McMillan & Landon DiMaio; brother-in-law Ronnie Carman of Little Rock Ark.; and numerous cousins. A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2013 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will follow from 6 until 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Thursday May 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with Deacon Bud Daven officiating. Pallbearers will be Fred McMillan, John Arnold, B.J. Hamlin, Kenny Scott, Marvin Sammons, Bill Newsom, and Ronnie Carman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Salisbury, Wesley Cady, Doyce Jones, Norman Guthrie, Paul Goza, and Jimmy DeWoody. The family would like to thank Dr. Brad P. Baltz of Hematology Oncology Services, Dr. Shawn Purifoy, and Arkansas Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Arkansas Hospice or any charity of your choice.
