Nancy Clift Price Feland

Nancy Clift Price Feland, long-time resident of Cabot, died November 2, 2013. She was born in Escondida, Kentucky, the daughter of James R. and Sadie Price, on March 1, 1922. She is survived by her husband, Armstead Milner Feland, III, with whom she celebrated her seventieth anniversary December 30, 2012. They were married in Paris, Kentucky, following a courtship at the University of Kentucky while students. The enduring devotion they shared was a declaration to their children and friends, as they held hands while walking and praying together daily. She generously loved and devoted herself to her husband and his leadership role in farmer cooperatives which allowed them to travel the world. No matter how far they ventured, the two were most content on their farmland in Kentucky and Arkansas. Nancy Feland always, was quick of memory and recall; she remembered birthdates of each grandchild as well as anniversaries of family and friends. Needless to say, she was a formidable bridge player. She began her primary education in the second grade at Clintonville, Kentucky, already reading and writing with a strong aptitude in mathematics. She received an associate degree at Bethel College and continued her education at the University of Kentucky. Nancy Feland created wonderful childhood memories centered around church, school, family, scouting, and farming activities, for her four children who survive: Armstead M. Feland, IV, and Jane of Higden; Dr. Beth Feland of Columbus, Mississippi; John Feland and Ginger, of Springdale; and Will Feland, of Cabot. She was devoted to hearing about the many accomplishments of her grandchildren; Tamara Feland; Maria Peterson; Lara Beth Lyde; Karla Shotts; Paula Bach; John Feland; Andy Feland; Armstead Feland, V; Bucky O'Connell-Miller; Price Feland and Nancy Bard; and her great-grandchildren whom she cherished as the most precocious children ever! She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Glenn Price and James Price, and sister, Mary Louise Pitts. As well as her immediate family, she is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. At the time of her death, Mrs. Feland was a member of First Christian Church, Sherwood. She had many friends in the Mixed Adult Class of Cabot United Methodist Church and strong ties to Park Hill Christian Church and Pulaski Heights Christian Church. As a younger adult, she was PTA president, an officer in the League of Women Voters, and served in numerous capacities of leadership in the churches she attended. She worked with her sons in Scouting, and was a national officer of Church Women United. Because of their strong roots in family farming, The Feland Future Farmers of America Pavilion exists at Camp Couchdale and Feland Hall is present at the C.A. Vines 4-H Center. An outdoor pavilion at Lonoke County's Open Arms Shelter for youth will honor Nancy and Armstead Feland. Private family services will be held under the leadership of Reverend Miles Cook. Her children ask that if you wish to honor her memory, you should consider the C.A. Vines 4-H Center (#1 4-H Way, Little Rock, Ark. 72223), or your church outreach ministry. Nancy Feland was a tireless advocate of outreach causes, both church related and secular, to those on the margins of life.
