Helena Joan Ward, 77, of Little Rock passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in the hospital. She was born on December 9, 1935, in Knightsen, California where she grew up. She had been a Little Rock resident since 1968. She attended Arizona State University, majoring in Home Economics. She taught the home management skills at both World Services for the Blind and the School or the Blind in Little Rock. She was a member of the Baha'i Faith and served on its local administrative body. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and elena Somerhalder, and a daughter, Divina. She is survived by her husband, Allan Ward; a son, Allan Ward II (Kirstin), one grandson, Logan Ward, one granddaughter, Anna Ward, of Woodland, California, a brother, Gilbert Somerhalder of Knightsen, California; nieces, Jamie and Jennifer Somerhalder and Portia Mittelman and nephew, Albert Porter II; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock, (501) 661-9111.
