Arthur Langlais went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 8, 2013. He fought a courageous battle against Alzheizer's Disease. He was born November 23, 1923 to Ferfan and Laura (Vermett) Langlais in Sanford, Maine, where he grew up. He was the oldest of nine children and is survived by his sister, Loraine Lantagne of Sanford, Maine. While serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he met the love of his life, Dolores Schmidt. After his discharge from the service, they were married in Long Island, New York. In 1948 their son, Gary was born. While living in New York, he worked for Shell Oil. Their son, Gary decided to pursue his architectural career in Houston, Texas. On a visit to Houston, Arthur and Dolores realized that they liked the city and decided to follow Gary to Houston. In Houston Arthur went to work as the supervisor of the J C Penney Auto Center and his center made the most money of all the auto centers for J C Penney in the U.S. During this time, his wife was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehring's Disease. With the help of family Arthur took care of her until her death in 1979. After retiring from JCP, he lived in Sommerville, Texas until 2005 when he moved to be with his son, Gary and his wife, Donna, and his grandson, Shawn who had moved to Little Rock in 1988. Arthur was preceded in death by his son, Gary Langlais. who also died of ALS. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Donna Langlais and his grandson, Shawn Langlais and his wife Christina and their three children Fayth, Regan and Nash. They were the joys of his life. His eyes always lit up when he saw them. And they cherished the time they had with him. Arthur was a good Christian man and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He volunteered his services at church until his Alzheimer's Disease prevented him from continuing his duties. He enjoyed hunting and target shooting. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, 5124 Hillcrest, Little Rock, Ark.
