Mary J. "Tootie" Merritt

Mary J. "Tootie" Merritt, 99, of Kinston passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Harmony Hall. Mary was an assistant to the director to Presbyterian Village, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Merritt and son, William Scott Merritt. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wanda Neely officiating, with visitation to follow. A burial will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, Tenn. Tootie is survived by her nieces and nephews; Raymond J. Foster, Jr. of Waynesboro, Va., Catherine Foster Swann and husband Meredith of Kinston, N.C., William Booker Foster and wife Marilyn of Wilmington, Del., Darnell Jones and wife Connie of Greenville, N.C., Steffi Jones and wife Lulu of Florida, Betty Miles Bradford of Chapel Hill, N.C., Virginia Ann Pryor and husband Toby of England, Darnell George Jones of McHenry, Ill., Cynthia Jones Locke and husband Melvin of McHenry, Ill., and many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
