Venice M. Joyner, 97, of Jacksonville formerly of Guy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. She was born on December 4, 1915 in Guy, to the late Mose and Hariett (Dejarnatt) Rowlett. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Venice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, flowers, and visiting with friends. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Walker; brother, E.C. Rowlett; two grandchildren, Cass Pierce and Doug Pierce (Cindy); three step grand-children, Damian Thompson, Jesse Harrison and Myriah Harrison; great-granddaughter, Robin Renea Thompson Harrison and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Joyner is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years: Dorse Joyner; grandson, Dewey Pierce' three brothers, Roy Bruce Rowlett, J.M. Rowlett and Vernon Rowlett; three sisters, Vida Crafton, Bessie Woodruff and Lowell Walthal. Funeral service is set for 11 a.m., November 15, 2013 at Copperas Springs Baptist Church in Guy. Burial will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery with Bro. Gary Burdin and Nick Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
