DORIS CARROLL STROBEL, 91, of Little Rock, passed away on Wed. Nov. 13. She was born on April 20, 1922 in Chicago, Ill. Doris is survived by her husband of 69 years, Tom Strobel; two children, Gary Strobel of Little Rock and Michael Strobel and wife Debbie of North Little Rock; grandchildren Lt. JG Preston Strobel of Port Angeles, Wash. and Grant Strobel of Siloam Springs, Ark. Doris grew up in Lombard, Ill. and graduated from Knox College in Illinois where she was President of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She and Tom met at college and were married on Nov. 22, 1944, just before he shipped out to Europe. Doris worked as an assistant librarian while Tom was overseas. When he returned they settled in Riverside and later Western Springs, Ill. where they raised their two sons. Doris and Tom were Charter and Organizing members of Western Springs Presbyterian Church. In 1968, when Tom retired as president of a savings and loan, they moved to Florida. Doris volunteered as a Pink Lady at Boca Raton Hospital and later helped Tom manage their pecan farm in Madison, Fla. Doris and Tom moved to Little Rock in 2002 to be near their grandchildren. They lived in Parkway Village and are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to express their thanks to Doris' wonderful caregivers: Mary Butler, Charlotte Butler, Teria Williams and Monique Wright. They want to especially thank Felicia Butler for all her wonderful care and love for Doris over the past four years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001 or to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4501 Rahling Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72223. A memorial service will be held at the Parkway Village Chapel, 14300 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock on Monday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. Rev. Jeff Price of Trinity Presbyterian Church will conduct the service.
