SHERMAN HOUSLEY, age 93, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at Little Rock, Ark. He was born on April 19, 1920 in Fir, Ark., USA to his parents, Mr. James Housley and Mrs. Effie Housley. Sherman was the second of five children. He married Louise Housley in 1962. They had three children. He attended Mt. Ida High School and graduated in 1939. He served in the Army for three years. A veteran of World War II, he earned a Victory Medal Award and 3 bronze Battle Stars. He was a long-time resident of Little Rock. He was employed by Arkansas Power and Light and US Army Corps of Engineers as a Civil Engineering Technician for over 30 years. Sherman was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and active in various church ministries. He enjoyed music (banjo and guitar) and loved family gatherings; photo albums, and had a notorius sweet tooth. He was active in the Penbrook Clover Hill neighborhood association. Sherman will be remembered by his loving children: Sandra Jean Hulsey and husband, James Everhart of Sachse, Texas; Harold Ray Housley and wife, Sara (Melching) of Mesa, Ariz.; John Sherman Housley of Little Rock. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew Nathaniel Hulsey, Christopher James Hulsey, Natalie Rose Housley and Amber Michelle Housley. Predeceased in death by brothers, Elza, Allen, Elbert Housley, and sister, Ida Sue Hicks.. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, in the chapel of Immanuel Baptist Church, with Reverend Cliff Springer officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Park, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204. 501-661-9111.
