John "JB" Stephen Bethurem

JOHN "JB" STEPHEN BETHUREM, 59, of Little Rock, passed away Nov. 22, 2013. He was born in Little Rock on July 20, 1954, the third son of Robert Barton Bethurem Sr. and Billie Vocque Bethurem. He worked for Target, Inc. for 18 years and was to retire Jan. 20, 2014. He never married. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, David Eugene Bethurem and James Paul Bethurem. John is survived by his mother; brothers Robert Barton Bethurem Jr. (Lynda) of Rose Bud and William Lawrence Bethurem; and sister, Deborah Lucille Smith (Ronald) all of Little Rock. John rededicated his life to Christ Jesus in 2010 and was a member of Holy Ground Baptist Church. He was interested in Arkansas history as well as art history, and in the 1990's he volunteered at the Toltec Mounds State Park in Scott. John also loved to paint, spending time with family and friends, visiting civil war sites, and talking about civil war history and artists for hours at a time. He loved Louisiana's blues, culture, and food. He was a very caring person and was always willing to help anyone in need. His mild demeanor will surely be missed. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you then chose for yourself, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord, Joshua 24:15. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211 (501)224-8300. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
