Andrew Maurice Hall, age 92, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died Monday September 30, 2013 in Fayetteville. Dr. Hall pastored churches in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Florida over a period of 74 years, including First Baptist Church in Fayetteville for 17 years. He was born on November 30, 1920, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Jim and Ruth Hall. Dr. Hall was a sports editor at Little Rock High School and a champion debater at Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He served First Baptist Church in Malvern, Arkansas, 1942-1943. He received a doctorate from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1949 and pastored Hartford Baptist Church, 1944-1949. He served First Baptist Church, Lake Wales, Florida, 1949-1953; First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas, 1953-1970, where he led the campaign to build the current sanctuary in 1960; and First Baptist Church, Delray Beach, Florida, 1970-1984. He retired to Fayetteville and served interim pastorates at Van Buren, Berryville, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Dutch Mills and Elkins. He also did missionary work in Barbados, Antigua and Grand Cayman. He chaired the Southern Baptist Radio and TV Commission and was on the Foreign Mission Board. He was president of Fayetteville Rotary Club and was an avid golfer and Razorbacks fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Harriet Grant Hall; sister, Charlene Watkins; two brothers, Wes Hall and Leland Hall; brothers-in-law George Grant and Richard Grant; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stanford. He is survived by one daughter, Andrea Hall Savage, and her husband Stan of Moultrie, Georgia; one son, Grant Hall, and his wife Audley of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two brothers, David Hall and his wife Polly of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Gayrie Hall and his wife Theresa of North Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Jason Hall and his wife Traci of Springdale, Arkansas; Joanna Braswell and her husband Anderson of Smithfield, Virginia; Scott Hall of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn and Anna Hall; Claire and Alice Braswell and special friend Audrey Gateley of Fayetteville. Visitation will be 5 pm to 7 pm Tuesday October 1, 2013 in the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville. Graveside service will be 4 pm Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
