James "Jim" William Long, 71, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home. He was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Rev. James I. and Linnie Mae Long. He was a spiritual man, a gifted musician, who loved playing his guitar, and he left behind a legacy of music which lives on through his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man with a big heart; compassion for others, and love for his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Paul David and Daniel Joseph Long. Those left to cherish his memory are his five children, Tanya DeSalvo and Shea Kreps of Little Rock, Kristi Duran of Sherwood, James Long, Jr. of Dallas and Michael Long of Northwest Arkansas; his sisters, Joyce Ellis of California, Lois Hargrove of North Little Rock, Ruth Whichard of Little Rock and brother, Nathan Long of Batesville; his 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for friends and family will be from 4-6 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72117.
