Steven Lee Stewart, 65, entered into a peaceful eternal sleep on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Born on October 20, 1947 to Charles and Dorothy Stewart in Norwood, Ohio, he spent his early years in the Norwood School system. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1968 from the University of Cincinnati, and afterwards, taught for five years in an inner-city school in Cincinnati. In 1974, he joined the National Education Association in Indiana as a Uniserv Director. He later worked in Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, and finished his career in Arkansas where he served until 2011 as the Arkansas Education Association Assistant Executive Director. He is survived by Carrie, his wife of 37 years; daughters and daughter-in-law: Juli Bowling of Venice, Florida, Christy Stewart, and Claudia Friedman both of Houston, Texas; and Christy's mother, Sandra Sellers, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Jacquelyn Boudreau and her husband, Michael, of Naples, Florida, Brittany Ketring Stuart and her husband, Micah, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Brittany's mother, Kelly, Jordan Scott Ketring of San Francisco, California, Kylee Maison Ketring of Farmland, Indiana, and their mother, Judi; nephew, Mark Vance of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece, Cindy Howton of Carbondale, Illinois; and great-grandchildren: Brinley Scott Boudreau and Hayden Michael Boudreau of Naples, Florida; and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only son, Scott Ketring. While ill with leukemia, he was an active participant in several clinical trials for cancer research. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leukemia Foundation in Steve's name. Visiting hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR (501)224-8300. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark.
