Ike Allen Laws Jr.

Ike Allen Laws Jr., 77, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born April 14, 1936, in Russellville, to Ike Allen and Bobbye Yvone Walthall Laws. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Russellville, was a practicing attorney for over 50 years, and was a member of the Pope County Bar Association and the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. He was a Captain in the United States Army, a Mason, served as the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and as Special Associate Justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court. He was one of the first in Arkansas to be certified as a Criminal Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates, served as the Atkins City Attorney, and was a board member and president of the Arkansas River Valley Symphony Guild and of Western Arkansas Legal Services for the Indigent. He was appointed to the Arkansas Arts Council and served as a board member of the Arkansas Arts Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Toni Laws and Hugh and Tamara Laws all of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Margo Jackson-Lockyer and her husband, Chris, of Mountain Home; a sister, Mary Beth Culbertson of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Harrison Laws, Alix Ann Laws, Matt Laws, David Jackson-Lockyer and Sarah Jackson-Lockyer; and by many friends and family. Graveside service in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville will be private, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michael J.
