Richard S. Thornally, born in April 1921, passed away in Boerne, Texas on Oct. 1, 2013, due to complications from old age. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Schott of Danville, Ky., her husband Robert and their sons Benjamin, Daniel and Adam; his daughter, Catherine Tinin of Benton, Ark., her husband Gregg and their daughter Melanie; and his son David Thornally of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, his wife Rosemary and their sons Kenneth and Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Edwin, his brother Robert, his wife Barbara and their daughter Patricia Thornally. Richard was born on the south side of Chicago and attended Morgan Park High School where he played football and wrestled. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin and played football for the Badgers from 1939 to 1942 as a center/end. After graduation in 1943, he served in the South Pacific in the Marine Corp. He returned home and had a successful career as a salesman, manager and owner in the corrugated container business. Dick was a wonderful father and provider who enjoyed golf, fishing, cards, and Wisconsin Badger football. He will be missed by all who met him.
