Sonja Kay Stinnett

Sonja Kay Stinnett, 64, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on October 6, 2013, at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock. She was born March 31, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, to her parents, Everett Larry Stinnett and the late Okemah Marie Sager. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Everett Larry Stinnett Jr. A graduate of Southwest High School in Kansas City; Kay retired from the state of Arkansas after 28 years of service. She was a Christian and attended Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Kay always had a smile on her face and in her heart. She looked for the best in people. She loved nature, reading, cooking, music, worship and being around her family that she cherished so very much; especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays when they were all together. She also loved packing Christmas boxes for Samaritan Purse to send around the world. Her daughter remembers her singing, laughing and enjoying life. "I will cherish our time cooking in the kitchen, sometimes we would just laugh til we cried." Survivors are her loving daughter, Cara Stinnett of Little Rock; her father, Everett Stinnett of Lompoc, California; a sister, Lynn Penn of Bryant; a brother, Lonnie Stinnett of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Olivia and Adam Meadows; and nieces, Christy Simons and Anna Marie White. A memorial service to celebrate Kay's life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, with Barry Wingfield officiating.
