John Franklin Harris, age 59, after nine years of courageously fighting cancer went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on October 9, 2013. He was born in Little Rock, AR to Sue and Frank Harris on August 6, 1954. John grew up in Batesville, Ark. John worked for Arkansas Precast for over 30 years as an Architectural Draftsman, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. John is known for his love, patience and service to others. There was no task too big for him to handle and his family often called on him for his excellent handy man skills. He came with the right tools and a smile on his face. He had a forgiving spirit and didn't easily take offense. He never met a stranger as he always had a ready conversation. He loved to tell childhood stories with any one that would listen. John had a big heart and he loved the adventure of life. John is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to celebrate his life is his loving wife of 26 years, Kim Harris of Sherwood and their three children; Rachel Mulligan and her husband Matt of Cabot, Matthew Harris and Hannah Harris, both of Sherwood. Son, Stephen Harris, of Russellville; brother, Fred Harris (Terris Ann); father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Della Rhea Holley; sisters-in-law, Darlene Houser (Robert), LaDonna Broussard (Allan) and Ashlea Watson (Bj); and several nieces and nephews; special aunt Ellen ("Hankie") DeGroodt; beloved friends Michael and Dianne Johnson and Jake and Brian Johnson. He will be terribly missed by all who loved him. "We thank our God in all our remembrance of you." (Philippians 1:3) Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Wyman Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home, Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
