Effie Elise Hyatt Frazier

Mrs. Effie Elise Hyatt Frazier, age 83, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013. She was born September 6, 1930, in Monticello, Arkansas, to Benjamin and Florence Spragins Hyatt. Mrs. Frazier moved to Hope with her mother and brothers when she was two. She attended Hendrix College and then married the love of her life, George Thomas Frazier, Sr., and they were married almost 65 years. Effie was an avid lover of the arts, especially opera and the symphony. She was civic and politically minded as evidenced through her numerous local volunteer efforts as well as active involvement in the Democratic Party. Effie was known for her strong opinions and loved to argue her opinion especially with her friends and family. She was truly a unique woman. Mrs. Frazier is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister-in-law Pat Hyatt. Mrs. Frazier is survived by her husband, George Frazier Sr., sons, Dr. Tom Frazier and wife Cynthia, Robert "Bo" Frazier and wife Kate, daughter, Carol Frazier Maxwell and husband Tim, grandchildren Colin and Cameron Maxwell, Benjamin, Alexandra and William Frazier, McKenzie, Lily and Liza Moriconi , and Bailey, Sarah and Maddie Frazier, all of Little Rock, Arkansas, brothers, Benjamin Hyatt and wife Sarah, Charles Hyatt and wife Joy and Bob Hyatt, eight nieces and nephews and thirteen great-nieces and nephews. Effie's family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Assisted Living in Little Rock for their special attention during her brief stay there. They would also like to thank Dr. George Garrett, Dr. Joe Beck, Dr. Gail McCracken, Dr. Anne Manners, Dr. Lynn Davis and Dr. Rana Kayali. Special thanks goes to the staff of 4NW at St. Vincent Infirmary who made the last few days of her life comfortable and caring. Visitation for Mrs. Frazier will be 4 to 6 p.m, Saturday, October 12 at the home of Kat Young, 301 East 18th Street, Hope, Arkansas. After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.
