Doris Gifford

On Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, DORIS GIFFORD walked into the waiting arms of her beloved sole- mate, Ted Gifford, to begin their dance in eternity. No more sorrow, only praises with the angels and heavens' chorus. She was born on Oct. 20, 1938, in Little Rock, Ark., to Otis Lee Spann and Virgie Lee Knight Spann, both preceding her in death. Also preceding her to glory was one brother, Jimmy Lee Spann of the San Diego Area of California. Her husband of 51 years, Theodore Allen Gifford, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 17, 2009. She is survived by one brother, Larry Spann (Susie) of Bismarck and one sister, Patricia Peters, of Bryant, Ark. Closest to her was her care-giver and eldest daughter, Joanna Gifford. She moved in with Joanna and looked forward to their annual outing to see Celtic Thunder each year to hear "her boys" singing both traditional, as well as contemporary songs of Ireland, dreaming of one day seeing and walking the land of Erie. Other surviving children were Morris Dowdel of Palm Coast, Fla.; Bradley A. Gifford of Little Rock, Ark.; Valerie L. Gifford of Benton, Ark.; and David F. Gifford, the baby of the family, of Van Buren, Ark. She leaves behind, grandchildren who loved her dearly; Matthew C. Gifford, 34 of Little Rock; Jacob A. Shroyer, 31, of Jacksonville, Ark.; Robert D. Tuggell of Arizona; Davynn N. Gifford, 18, and Gabriel F. Gifford, 16, both of Van Buren, Ark. She also leaves one great grandchild, Caden M. Shroyer, 5, of Jacksonville, Ark. She was an active member of the Church at Willow Beach in North Little Rock, Ark., and we are blessed to have Brother Roy Tilley conducting her funeral service. Funeral arrangements are being made by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home in Little Rock, Ark. (501) 455-5800.
