MAX E. BRYANT, age 84, of Little Rock, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 in the Baptist Health Medical Center. He was born in New Edinburg, Ark. on Oct. 21, 1928 to the late Montie Bryant and Allie Tipton Bryant. Max enjoyed his childhood in Jefferson and Cleveland Counties. He graduated from high school in New Edinburg. He later attended and earned his degree from Ouachita Baptist University. During his career in finance, he was the business office manager for St. Vincent Infirmary in charge of billing, and had also worked in area banks. An avid sports fan, Max enjoyed watching basketball and football, particularly the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a long time member of Toastmasters, and attended Markham Street Baptist Church. Max was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee Logan Bryant of Little Rock, to whom he was married on Sept. 6, 1953 in Greenville, Miss.; his son, Rodney Bryant and his wife, Leigh of Arlington, Texas; his daughters, Gail Lien and her husband, Dan, and Lisa Akridge, all of Little Rock; his grandchildren, Rebecca Bryant, Paul Bryant, Stephanie Akridge, Bradley Akridge, and Tiffany Akridge; and a great-grandson, Charlie Jackson Bryant. The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Sunday evening, Oct. 13, 2013 from 5 until 7 o'clock. His funeral will be at 10 o'clock Monday morning, Oct. 14, 2013 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Tom Strike officiating. Pallbearers: will be Jeff Bryant, Mike Bryant, David Bryant, Steve Belin and Paul Bryant. Interment will follow in Rockport Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Honor Guard. Memorials are requested to the Food for Kids Backpack Program at the Arkansas Rice Depot.
