Claudine Bumpers Jones, age 84, of Forrest City, died Oct. 6 of respiratory failure at St. Bernard's Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was the wonderful mother of Mike and Ann and an entertaining friend to many. Claudine was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Coffeeville, Ala., to Howard Bumpers and Maggie Beverly Bumpers. She is survived by her sister, Earline Gibson of Mobile, Ala.; her daughter, Ann Jones of Millbrae, Calif.; her granddaughter, Olivia Jones and her great-grandchildren, Peyton Bangs, Bridgette Bangs and Luke Smith, all of Searcy. She was preceded in death by her son Mike Jones in 1990 and her ex-husband, Andy Jones Jr. in 2008. She lived in Arkansas during her adult life. She worked over the years as an office worker, secretary/bookkeeper at a truck line and as a caregiver for the very young at her church and for the elderly. She was a member of the Wynne First United Methodist Church since 2004 and a member of the Go Getters Sunday School class. She enjoyed worship there and was a big fan of Tuesday Senior Activities, especially the bingo and domino games. Claudine kept up with current events and enthusiastically shared her opinions with others! She was always an ardent supporter of the less fortunate in society.
