Ernie D. Gibson

Ernie D. Gibson, 90, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2013. He was doing what he loved, working in his garden. Ernie was born January 3, 1923 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late John and Bertha Lawson Gibson. He was retired from Alcoa and was a faithful member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church since 1950. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Jean Gibson and his brother, J.W. Gibson. He is survived by his three children, Sandra Barnett, Gary Gibson, Mark Gibson and wife, Debbie all of Benton, five grandchildren, Tracy Gibson, San Francisco, Michelle Gibson, David Gibson and wife, Reesa, Erica Gibson and Rachel Minner and husband, Chris, two great grandchildren, Haylee Gibson and Aimslee Minner all of Benton. Church services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
