Lyndell J.C. George

Lyndell J.C. George, 76, of Heber Springs, left his earthly body and went to be with his Savior on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. He was born on Sunday, Dec. 20, 1936 in Drasco, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Annalee (Salter) George, and sister, Gail Johnson Brixey. J.C. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris (Bowman); son, Jimmy (Teresa) of Heber Springs, daughter Denise Brown (David) of Elko, Nev.; five grandchildren, Clay George, Megan Robinson (KayCee), Wesley Brown (Kristin), Austin Brown (Shayne), and Andrew Brown; one great-granddaughter, Hadlee; sisters, Jetta Fowlkes (Bill), Claudette Powell (Bill), two half-sisters, two stepsisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. J.C. was a graduate of Concord High School, where he met his bride; he went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Civil Engineering. He also earned a Masters in Sanitation Engineering from the University of Michigan. J.C.'s career as a civil engineer included working for the Arkansas State Department of Health and being the City Engineer for Jacksonville. He became a distinguished businessman as president and co-owner of AGL Corporation. He was a proud member of the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineers, and a member of First Baptist Church Heber Springs. J.C. was an avid tennis player, enjoyed both playing and listening to bluegrass music, and loved spending time on his farm in Wilburn. He considered his greatest achievement and priority in life to be his family, and brought joy to the lives of all who knew him. His zest for life and ornery streak were only part of what made him such a wonderful individual, along with his determination, wisdom, kindness, and generosity. The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Heber Springs. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs, Ark. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at the church.
