Novella Martha Robertson, 95, of Little Rock passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013. She was born on January 17, 1918 in Pocahontas, Ark. to Walter Weekly Jackson and Ada Tyler Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cleo Robertson; sisters, Notra Shelton and Mary Lea Ham; brother Walter Ray Jackson; brother-in-law Osie Shelton; and sister-in-law Juanita McNabb Jackson. She is survived by daughter Kathryn Lou (Don) McConnell of Little Rock; son Jim (Cathy) Robertson of Madison, MS; brother-in-law Doyne Ham of Lafayette, La.; grandchildren, Jayme (Kevin) McDonald, Ashley Robertson, Reck (Wendy) McConnell, Trevor (Yisel) McConnell, and Mark Wells; great-grandchildren Stormie Wells, Rose Marie McConnell, Lily Marie McConnell, Nicolas McConnell, Zach McConnell and Brady Willis. Novella grew up in Hamil and Pocahontas. She and her husband moved to Houston, Texas for a few years, where he worked as a welder in the shipyards during World War ll and she was employed by Sears; then to North Little Rock where they opened a retail clothing business which they retired from in 1976. After retirement, they enjoyed several years of traveling. She attended Levy Baptist Church in North Little Rock for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed watching a good football or basketball game, especially the Razorbacks, and working in her yard. She also loved politics and listening to music. She moved to Parkway Village in 2006 where she remained until January of 2013, when she transferred to Presbyterian Village to have rehabilitation due to a fractured leg. A very special thank you to her caregivers Bertha Brown, JoAnn Murray, and Abby Elrod. She greatly enjoyed their companionship. Visitation will be at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Ark. on September 19, 2013 from 11 to 12:30 p.m. and burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery at 1 p.m., Pastor Eric Moffet will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to one's favorite charity in her name.
