Alice Marie Reynolds Rodgers, 98, of Conway, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was born in Conway on Monday, January 18, 1915 to the late Cyrus Carl and Lydia Bowen Reynolds. Marie graduated from Conway High School in 1932 as Valedictorian and attended ASTC now UCA and graduated with honors in 1936. She was voted most dependable student. She was also president of Alpha Chi, an honor society. She later received her Master's degree from Vanderbilt and also had college hours above her master's degree. She taught at Potomac State College in West Virginia until the death of her husband at which time she moved back home to Conway and taught at UCA until her retirement in 1980. Marie was Who's Who of American Women from 1970 to 1973. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Barbara Kay (Jim) O'Bryant of Hot Springs, Rick and (Melinda) Reynolds of Greenbrier, Rock (Donna) Reynolds of Shreveport, LA and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Norman E. Rodgers; daughter, Rebecca Jane Rodgers; and brother, Walter I. Reynolds. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway. There will be an open visitation at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice and Dr. John Smith and the caregivers that took care of her and allowed her to remain in her home.
