James "Jim" Parvin Sanders

James Parvin Sanders, 1928-2013. Jim Sanders passed away in Mapleton Utah, September 20, 2013 from cancer. He was born on August 31, 1928, in Thornberg, Perry, Arkansas. His father was Aurther Allen Sanders and his mother was Susie Weaver. Jim married Joie Belle Johns on June 29, 1950 in Stockton Calif. He joined the Air Force and served 20 years. His military tours took him to Japan, Philippines and three tours to Vietnam. Jim and Joie also owned and operated an Orthodontic Lab in Livermore, Calif. for 15 years. Jim and Joie have three married daughters, Connie and John Becker of Livermore, Calif., Jackie and Mike Roberts of Silversprings, Nev., Susan and Kim Skinner of Mapleton, Utah. They have 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Jim and Joie just celebrated their 63rd Wedding anniversary in June with their large extended family. Jim has a love Of God, Family, Country and Fishing. Jim's love of fishing was such, where ever his family lived he would search out and find the best fishing whether it was fly fishing, Lake or Ocean. Jim never knew a stranger, everyone was his friend. Jim's Great Grandma Nancy Sophronia Huff was one of the 17 survivors of the Mountain Meadow Massacre that occurred on Sept 11, 1857. Jim and Joie were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple with their three daughters. Jim is survived by his wife Joie, his three daughters and brother, Gene Douglas Sanders of Colorado. Preceded in death were his father, mother, brother, Kenneth, sister, Gretta, brother, Curtis Randolf. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 31 W Maple St., Mapleton, Utah 84664. Viewing will be held at 10 am same day in the Relief Society Rm. After the Luncheon, Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery at 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale, Utah 84065.
