Rose Hulett, 94, went peacefully to join those who went before on the morning of September 23, a beautiful, cloudless day Her family was with her. Rose was born in Little Rock on August 30, 1919, to parents Casper and Carrie Uekman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luther Hulett, sisters Evelyn Hulett and Mary Finley, and brother Bill Uekman. She is survived by her children, Jeff Hulett of North Little Rock, Chris Hulett of Little Rock, Pat O'Neal of Dallas, her granddaughter, Sallie Dietz, and great grandson, Ian Dietz, both of Pilot Point, Texas, her sister, Dorothy Chadwick of Mabelvale, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was a lifelong resident of North Little Rock and attended St. Anne's Catholic Church until she could no longer drive. She was a prolific vegetable gardener and worked tirelessly to grow most of her family's food while raising her children. She was a great mom; pride in her children was frequently embarrassing to them, well into their adulthood. She also touched the lives of many in her extended family and beyond. She adored animals and rescued countless strays in her lifetime. Her absence is clearly evident to her beloved Frisco and Cricket, who continue to seek her out. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Joe Martindale and Dr. Mark Martindale for the exceptional care, wise counsel and extraordinary kindness they have provided over many years to Rose and our family. We are also very grateful to Melanie Pilcher, a member of Rose's medical team, who became a great friend as well. Her support and guidance through the maze of the healthcare system was invaluable; her good humor, a welcome release. The entire staff and volunteers of Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant, where Rose spent her last weeks, provided so much more than medical care. They helped us to understand - and accept - what was to come. Most importantly, they made Rose laugh on a daily basis. We are forever grateful to them. Funeral arrangements are by North Little Rock Funeral Home. Visitation, beginning with a rosary, will be Thursday, September 26, at 6 p.m. Mass will be held in the North Little Rock Funeral Home chapel at 10 am Friday, September 27, followed by interment at 11 a.m. in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, Rose would have preferred donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Saline Memorial Hospice, the Humane Society of Pulaski County or the animal care and rescue organization of your choice.
