Kathryn Ann (Walker) Vicry

Kathryn Ann (Walker) Vicry, age 86 of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. She was born July 8, 1927 in Hardy, Arkansas to Thomas W. and Berta Ann (Daugherty) Walker. After graduating from Hardy High School, she attended Arkansas State University and later obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Western Michigan University. A teacher for many years, she shared her love of life and learning with countless students. To family and friends, Katie was a constant source of love and encouragement. Her faith and positive attitude could always be depended on to brighten the spirits of those around her. Her interests varied widely, but her two abiding loves were music and the Razorbacks. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Joe Hill Vicry; and her younger sister Doris Wood. Survivors include one son, Thomas Walker Vicry and wife Tammy of Dayton, Tennessee; one daughter, Vicki Strickland of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; one sister, Mildred Jackson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services are Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Hardy United Methodist Church in Hardy, Arkansas with Marion Fleming and Dewey Dark officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardy Cemetery in Hardy, Arkansas. Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel located in Highland, Arkansas.
