Charles L. McClain, 85, of Crossett passed away September 27, 2013. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Lacey Cemetery on Saturday, September 28, 2013, with Dr. L.H. McCollough officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on September 27 at Jones Funeral Home in Crossett. (www.jonesservice.com). Born November 5, 1927, to Charlie and Tommie Gardner McClain of Drew County, Charles was a paper maker for Georgia Pacific, retiring in 1985. On his "off days," he loved operating heavy equipment in the local area. A World War II veteran, Charles proudly served in the U.S. Marines. He was member of First Baptist Church of Crossett. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Sawyer McClain; two sons, Marty (Janeé) McClain and Paul (Pam) McClain, all of Crossett; granddaughter, Mandy McClain of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons, Taylor and Alex McClain, of Crossett; three siblings, Audrey Stephenson of Crossett, Shirley Haskew of Lacey, and James (Gwen) McClain of Lacey; and a special sister-in-law, Rosa (Gene) Caprio of Hot Springs. He was preceded in death by a son David, as well as his sister Joan Burch of Monticello. Charles was a loving husband and father, a "Pop" like no other to his adoring grandchildren, the best "Uncle Charles" to his nieces and nephews, and a favorite friend to many. Charles' sweet spirit will linger for a lifetime in all those who knew and loved him.
