Constance Elizabeth Bednar

Constance Elizabeth (Connie) Bednar, 75, of Hazen, peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at her home. Connie was born November 12, 1938 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the daughter of Joseph Constantine and Vestal Leah Green Willett. After raising her family, she worked for Arkansas Power & Light Company, Prairie Farmers Association and owned, with her husband, Ray, Bednar's Shop Rite grocery in Hazen. She was preceded in death by her 8 year old daughter, Melissa Kay Bednar; her parents, J.C. and Vestal Willett and a sister, Chris Morse. Connie is survived by her husband, Raymond Bednar; two sons, Barry Bednar and wife, Angie of Atkins and Darren Bednar and wife, Donna of El Paso, Arkansas; one daughter, Shelly Yielding of North Little Rock; two sisters, Bonnie Goad and Gayle Barnett and one brother, Randy Willett all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Brae and Hailey Bednar, Cody and Tyler Bednar and Zachary Yielding; two great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Jesse Moore and wife, Kristin and Michelle Grabill and husband, Brooks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Westbrook Funeral Home chapel in Hazen. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at the St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak with burial following in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Altar Society, 1852 Hwy. 86 West, Stuttgart, Ark. 72160. Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home, Hazen, Arkansas.
