COL. LAWRENCE H. "LARRY" MEYER (USAF Ret.), 84, of Little Rock, passed away April 2, 2014. He was born in Bloomington, Ill. to Lawrence C. and Florence Hulva Meyer and was of the Methodist faith. He was a retired C-130 pilot in the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. He also retired from the State of Arkansas after 12 years of service. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University where he was a member of the swim team, and was a runner-up for the U.S. Olympic swim team. He attained a Master's Degree in Social Work from UALR. Larry was a member of the Little Rock Athletic Club and an AARP volunteer. Preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lawrence Scott Meyer; and sister, Maurita Meyer, he is survived by his wife, Ann Whitmore Holthoff; daughter, Becky Meyer of Nashville, Ind.; stepdaughter, Allison Holthoff; stepson, Michael Holthoff (Danielle); and step-grandchildren, Abby and Katherine Holthoff, all of Little Rock. The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and doctors on the 5th Floor of Baptist Medical Center for their extraordinary care and support. Services will be Monday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), officiated by Dr. Bob Dunaway, followed by interment with Military Honors at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Special Olympics, Indiana University, V.F.W., Make-a-Wish, or to a charity of one's choice.
